Our Beliefs – The Bible
The Bible, which contains 66 books, Old and New Testament, is the written Word of God and every word is inspired by God. (2 Timothy 3:16; 1 Thessalonians 2:13)
God inspired human beings, through their individual personalities and different styles of writing, to compose and record God’s Word to man. (2 Peter 1:20-21)
We believe that the Bible is infallible without any errors (also known as ‘biblical inerrancy’). (Psalm 12:6, Psalm 19:7, Proverbs 30:5) The inerrancy of the Scriptures is also inferred by its ultimate source:
- God the Father (2 Timothy 3:16)
- God the Son (John 1:14 & John 14:6)
- God the Holy Spirit (2 Peter 1:20-21)
We believe that there is a wealth of good evidence to prove the trustworthiness of the Bible, including:
- The unity of all 66 books.
- The fulfilled prophecies.
- The Bible’s amazing scientific accuracy and foresight.
- Many archaeological discoveries.
- Numerous details that have been corroborated by extra-biblical historical sources.
- Vast numbers of personal testimonies of transformed lives.
The Bible reveals to us the basic essential facts of our existence:
- Where did we come from? (Genesis 1:1-31)
- What went wrong? (Genesis 3:1-24)
- How can we please God? (Deuteronomy 10:12-13)
- How can we be saved? (Romans 10:9)
- What is the eventual destiny of man? (John 3:16; Revelation 20:15)
We believe that the Bible is the only infallible rule of faith and practice. (Matthew 5:18; Matthew 24:35; John 10:35; John 16:12-13; John 17:17; 1 Corinthians 2:13; Galatians 1:8-9; 2 Timothy 3:15-17; Hebrews 4:12; 2 Peter 1:20-21)
The meaning of Scripture is to be found as a person carefully and diligently applies the literal grammatical-historical method of interpretation under the enlightenment of the Holy Spirit. (John 7:17; 16:12-15; 1 Corinthians 2:7-15; 1 John 2:20)
The Word of God trains and equips a believer for every good work. (2 Timothy 3:16)
The Word of God has power to transform us. (Isaiah 55:11; 1 Peter 1:23; Hebrews 4:12; 1 Thessalonians 2:13; John 17:17)
Regular Bible study and reading is vitally important for every believer. (John 15:3, Ephesians 5:26, John 17:17, Acts 20:32)
